The Byre at Witcomb is a family-run business, lovingly created by a mother and daughter team.
Meet Gemma & Heather
Mother, otherwise known as Heather has a background in catering- you generally find her in the kitchen baking a celebration cake or catering for a function. She has also promised to make some yummy cookies for you on arrival. Gemma has worked in hospitality- pubs and a golf course and most recently works with event horses- a very varied line of work. Jess, studied events management at university and has a hospitality background, she lives in New Zealand (No, not the one just up the road from us!) with her husband and daughter Layla- but provides advice from afar!
We bought the farm in 2001, as our family home, to enable us to have our dream, with our ponies outside the back door- every little girl's dream! As with most things, we grew up, got jobs, Jess moved to New Zealand and time for horses generally just wasn't there anymore (Plus I seemed to have ended up working with them!). So the stables and barn stood empty for a few years, until we decided it was time to put them back to use. And The Byre at Witcomb was born!
We have tried to make each accommodation individual, welcoming and cosy, whilst also being functional. We hope you love them as much as we do and look forward to welcoming you.
The Farm
Tucked away in the peaceful village of Hilmarton, Witcomb Farm has been our family home since 2001. The old red-brick farmhouse and surrounding land are full of character and charm, with open fields, big skies, and plenty of countryside calm. What was once a busy stable yard has now been given a new lease of life, with the barns lovingly converted into welcoming places to stay.
